Following the import taxes imposed on member countries by the Trump administration, the European Union has, as a reply, imposed an additional duty of 25% on US-made yachts.
These additional rights creates two issues:
- for units offered for sale that will bear, in addition to VAT, the additional 25% duty when imported into Europe
- for units offered for charter which are subject to import or reverse charge for chartering in EU waters
Regarding the boats offered for sale, there is no solution.
On the other hand, concerning the boats offered to the charter and which are imported at the beginning of the season and exported at the end of the season at the time of their departure, ECPY is in negotiation with the customs services in order to find a solution.
